As many changes started to take place this past summer, the University of Dayton implemented a new OneCard and Door Access system. The transition from the old OneCard system to the new one was seamless to the user since the new system uses the same University color ID. The Door Access system was installed at Keller Hall, Albert Emanuel, The Crotty Center, The Center for Portfolio Management, the Bursar's Office and most recently, the Science Center. Students using this new door access system were required to obtain a new University ID with a built-in antenna in the card allowing access to these facilities. In the Door Access world, this card is described as a "prox" card ( short for proximity reader access). As the University expands its door access program, there will be more and more prox cards issued, but for time being there will be two different University of Dayton Identification Cards which look identical: one with an invisible antenna and one without.
The University of Dayton OneCard office is responsible for the distribution of all University IDs for faculty, staff and students, both undergraduate and graduate. Lost OneCards should be reported immediately to the Campus OneCard office during business hours, M-F, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The cost to replace the OneCard without door access is $10.
If you lose your prox card after 4:30 or on the weekends and need access to your building, you may obtain a temporary prox card from Public Safety, which operates on a 24/7 schedule. The temporary prox card will be programmed to give you your authorized access privileges until the next business day. After that day, the prox card access privileges expires. Meal plan and Flyer Express account balances does not transfer to this temporary prox card. A separate temporary meal plan card can be obtained at any dining facility.
ALL PROX CARD CUSTOMERS ARE ASKED TO RETURN THE TEMPORARY CARD TO THE ONECARD OFFICE WHEN OBTAINING A NEW ID. THE COST OF THE NEW ID WILL BE $15. IF THE TEMPORARY CARD IS NOT RETURNED, THE COST OF THE NEW ID WILL BE $25. THE BUILT-IN ANTENNA IS EXPENSIVE THUS NECESSITATING THE ABOVE MENTIONED REPLACEMENT FEES.
