''Hi!'' Or Bye if you are using Outlook, Office, or ICQ

Its virus time again. Gotta love that. Its that time where the outlook users get slammed because they haven't updated the AntiVirus. The only cool things I have seen about it so far are the 76 emails I got saying that someone at the DDP had received the virus via email, but it was deleted because of the sweet Norton AV setup we have there.

The rather amusing part of this whole ordeal is that UD wasn't prepared again. We have DDP setup to check once a day for updates and then the clients check every 60 minutes to see if there is a new update. Pretty simple. The funny part comes in when we get an email from T. Harrington saying that you need to get the updates for Norton AntiVirus. From an email dated 05 December 2001:"We do know that this virus did get through to many of you before we had an update to Norton Anti-Virus and our e-mail 'scrubber'. The first thing you should do right now is assure that your Norton Anit-Virus has the latest updates as of 12/4/01." Keeping in mind that the latest updates were dated a day before the problems started happening, why didn't the NAV servers auto-update and push the micro-defs along? Seems rather strange to me, but then again it is UDit. (Don't get mad yet.) In defense of UDit however, not all UDit people are bad. People make mistakes, that’s fine. The problem comes into play when certain individuals make mistakes all the time. That right there seems to be the problem with everything at UD, not just the IT division. So here is my proposal to the people who suck at their jobs (you know who you are): quit now while you are still ahead. At least this way you won't get fired because you are an idiot.
