I know a lot of you may not be up on the war, but when I found this data I thought I should share it with the rest of you. Its a profile of a BLU-82, a.k.a. Daisy Cutter. For those of you who don't like war or bombs, don't read this.
BLU-82
Type: 15,000-pound general purpose bomb, no guidance system
Nicknames: Daisy Cutter, Commando Vault, Cheeseburger, Big Blue
Launch: Delivered from high altitudes out of C-130s
History: First used in the Vietnam War, mainly to clear helicopter landing zones
Function: Emits an aluminum powder that ignites, causing explosion
Impact: U.S. Air Force analysis estimates BLU-82 will cause death within 100 to 200 feet from the center of blast; incapacitate people and collapse non-hardened buildings less than 500 feet away; knock down personnel 750 feet away; and shatter glass 2,100 feet away
