Following closely on the heels of the success of the Taurus, AutoWeek is reporting that Ford plans to release a Mustang Station Wagon. Just imagine the possibilities: all of that pure American horse power combined with poor engineering, shoddy craftsmanship, marginal design, and all of those opportunities to talk to the nice folks in the service department at the dealership while you wait for them to repair your new car - your extended station wagon grocery getter muscle mustang car.

You may remember back to Ford's other great ideas that never seem to have caught on:
- The banana hot dog - All of the convenience of the hot dog without the slippery peel of the banana. A mystery meat conglomeration infused with that sweet goodness and vitamins of bananas all on a bun. A sure wiener.
- The extended magnified rear view mirror - In an attempt to capture more female drivers, Ford introduced a full makeup mirror in the '05 Focus. This allowed for more females to get ready in the car while driving and apply makeup there, rather than at home. Also to note on this model: the mobile hands free kit was specifically removed to ensure that the women also would be required to hold their phone while applying makeup and driving with their knees. After all, you wouldn't want to get mascara on the wheel, would you?
- Manual light switches - Ford keeps it "real" with this one. Taking you back to the early 50's, make sure you remember to switch on your headlights, because the car won't do it for you. Defying the new convention of turning the lights on automatically, Ford execs remarked that it added to the driving experience and give more power to the driver. Besides, that part would cost an additional $0.78 and who would end up paying for that pricey option? That's right: the consumer. I am so glad they saved us from that unneeded expense. Thanks Ford!
