Constitutional != ''Under God''
Yeah, I went Ajax© when I heard all of this fuss. What makes it even better was that I was at work. If you aren't up with the news here is the short of it all from CNN:
"A federal appeals court ruled Wednesday that reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools is an unconstitutional "endorsement of religion" because of the addition of the phrase "under God" in 1954 by Congress."
The lawsuit was started by Andrew Newdow from CA who is an athiest and has a daughter attending school in California.

He filed a case against United States, the U.S. Congress, California, two school districts and its officials. Yeah, that ought to do it. Just aim for everyone and eventually you should hit something. Senate voted 99-0 in support of the pledge and asking Senate counsel to intervene.
Remember when you were in 4th grade and another kid called you stupid and you really didn't care that much because he couldn't do anything about it? Well, now imagine that a really old guy with tons of political clout, who probably has a Bently, calls you stupid in front of the US Senate. See, I imagine that would make a bit more of an impact. Thats what happened with Sen. Byrd (D-West Virginia) who is from the old school and voted for the addition of "Under God" back in 1954. He warned the judges who declared the Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional to never come before him because "he'll be blackballed." I guess that is like an old guy saying he is going to kick your ass. "I wonder if that judge would hold the Declaration of Independence unconstitutional," said Byrd. "I hope the Senate will waste no time in throwing this back in the face of this stupid judge. Stupid, that's what he is." Wow. How'd you like that.
I think its a damn shame that people have to cause such a ruckus and I don't know what to think of them. I do know this though: when the day of hell, fire, and brimstone comes rollin' in, you bet your sweet ass I'll be "Under God" while Andy Newdow and his daughter are sitting around like "Damn. We are F'd" Sorry about your luck, but I'll have to go with "Told you so."

Sen. Robert Byrd
He'll cold cock you.

Yeah, Phil, you've been working too long. != is not in most people's vocabulary. To let you all in on the secret, != means not equal to ;).

Did you hear the newest rumor about this lawsuit? Andrew Newdow lied about the whole thing to get it into court. The guy stated that his daughter was an athiest (Lie #1) and that she was forced to recite the Pledge (Lie #2, she likes to recite the Pledge).

Apparently most of the news organizations decided not to interview the daughter, however one did. Seems she lives with her mother. The kid's mother and father are divorced because the mother and daughter are devout Catholics and they couldn't stand living with an athiest.

Add this bit of info to the fact that the Senate voted 99-0 to try to overturn the decision, it doesn't look like this will be unconstitutional much longer.

You know, I thought this whole lawsuit was stupid at first too ... but the more I think about it, the harder it is to argue, from a non-Christian perspective, against this Newdow guy. Granted, he should have better things to do, but that alone doesn't necessarily make him wrong.

A quote from a guy named Brian, who seems to have put a lot of thought into the matter:
People draw the comparison, “Well, what if it said “under Satan” or something?” While the example is ludicrous, the fact is that even though the Judeo-Christian version of God is the obvious choice if you’re going to pick one, picking one is still wrong.

Just something to think about ...
