UD's version of payment
Submitted by paiger
So it has only been a month since I turned 21 and I have already lost my ID. So naturally I went to the powerhouse to replace it and I paid the 10 bucks for a new one. I decided to ask the woman why it was so expensive because obviously the card itself does not cost $10. She didn't like this question and ignored me for a moment. Then when printing up my ID, she finally looked at me and said "They are $10 because it takes up my time." It took a total of 2 min for this whole process including the 1.5 min to print the ID. My calculation are that the card itself cost .25. The university makes a $2 profit, so she got paid $7.75 for 30 seconds of work. Not to mention she was reading her email before and after those 30 seconds. I want that job!

Its funny you bring up losing your ID and having to go to the powerhouse to get a new one. I too lost mine about 3.5 years ago, my sophomore year. I lost it in Marycrest Cafeteria. Anyway I went to get a new one, and back then it only cost 6 bucks. I guess as with the rest of the university, UD inflation is much different than the country's inflation. Fun facts huh? or just another sign of how old I am, hahaha.
