Jim turns 21... the aftermath
Well, the festivities this weekend continued heavily well into last night. As you all know, it was Jim's 21st. However, as you may not have known (and we all forgot), crazyfartsdotcom is one year old as well. The resulting weekend was full of fun and adventures. Here's a brief recap.

THURSDAY
No real birthday celebration today. We had rehearsal for Studio Theatre's "If You Only Knew", for which Jim and I accompanied on guitar and piano respectively. For curtain call we performed "Sweet Child O' Mine", which was a big hit ... in more ways than one. Using laws of physics that I don't entirely comprehend, I managed to snap the leg off of the piano bench I was using. Mind you ... it was already broken ... I just broke it a little worse. Jim was also still not feeling real well, so after we got home we all just went to bed.

FRIDAY
The day before the big day! After a long day of classes, we went to go do our performance at the show. It went well (no more broken piano benches) and got us in a good mood for the upcoming celebration. We kicked off the evening with a visit to our friend from work Melissa's house, where, although I sampled a very intriguing banana-flavored liquor, Jim limited himself to a rather tame strawberry daiquiri. After that, we headed on over to the barn, which was hopping as usual with a bunch of computer geeks. Naturally, we felt right at home. We chilled their for awhile, enjoying the standard UD beer fare (Beast, of course). At about 11:50, we hightailed it over to Nora's house to begin the joint birthday celebration. On the way, we began to wonder where Ryan was. Now obviously that's not unusual, but it was especially bad Friday because he kind of disappeared without telling anyone where he was going. I ended up calling his home in Cleveland and talking to his mom, who was needlessly worried. He's since requested that I use this page as a forum to announce that yes, Ryan is alive. The world can continue to turn now. Anyway, after ascertaining that, we headed on over to the Fieldhouse, right around the stroke of midnight. It was kind of sad. Nora started out with 12 shots in 15 minutes, and after about a half-hour's break, continued on like a champ. Jim, wanting to save himself up for Saturday night, decided to limit himself to four shots. Four shots became something more like fourteen to twenty, as friend after friend kept buying him drinks. I know I bought him a Long Island Iced Tea and a Red-Headed Slut (a very tasty drink) as well as a couple shots, and a shot of Jager was provided by Phil's money, given to us beforehand. We rounded out the evening with a stop back at the Barn on our way home. Back at the apartment, Jim had an experience he'd never had before, and I'll just leave it at that :-). All in all, the evening was a success.

... I'm not done yet ...

SATURDAY
Saturday we woke up in the morning (late afternoon) with headaches all around and decided to take it easy for awhile. Eric was in for a visit and so we hung out with him a bit, and then Paige decided that we were going to Friday's. As we entered the restaurant our jaws collectively dropped at the sight of the hostess, and absolutely stunning creature whom we later discovered was named Allison. Through some clever manipulation and outright begging we managed to get our picture taken with her, and as it ws Jim's birthday he got the added treat of a kiss on the cheek (I promise, he was thinking about Cara the whole time ;-) ). That picture will be posted here just as soon as we get it off the roll. After that we hustled over to Nora's, where the first keg was already nearly kicked. Rarely have I seen beer drunk so fast; the second one was half gone within barely thirty minutes. Shortly after that one disappeared, Ryan and Kara and I went over to Founders to visit some RA friends who were on duty, and then we kicked it on home to finish off the evening. Everyone was asleep on the floor by the time we got here, with The Shawshank Redemption on TV in the background. What a way to end the night.

SUNDAY (that's today)
We woke up. About fifteen minutes ago, Jim declared his hangover officially gone.

... and that's the long and the short (mostly long) of it. If you see Jim tomorrow make sure to congratulate him on a "job well done" Friday night, and of course, wish him a very happy 21st!
