And you though it was over
I know that November 2nd has come and gone, but there are a few people out there who are a little, how shall I say... Pissed off that W. is Pres. I can't say that I'm as angry that the election came out as it did. I actually like the fact that it was so close, and I think it gave America a chance to grow. However, I thought that everyone would be interested in this and this.

I think my favorite paragraph from both of these letters is the following:

"On 2 November, you thanked us by electing a shrewd, manipulative handmaiden to corporate America who panders to you while ruthlessly exploiting your ignorance and weakness for the benefit of his patrons in the national plutocracy. There is nothing we can do about that. You won fair and square."

I'm glad that the American people came out in droves (there were about 40 people in line when I got to my polling precinct ten minutes before they opened) in support of their candidates and country, the major media outlets took their time calling the states, and the states themselves took great strides to count the votes and make sure the totals were accurate. Sure, there was fraud in isolated spots, but as a whole the American people chose the direction of their nation for the next four years. (In fact, "dubya" was the first president to have over 50% of the popular vote since his father won in 1988.)

And it's not over. It will never be over. But, what we can do while we wait for 2008 is to be productive, well-informed citizens. We need to pay our taxes, get married, and raise families. Ultimately, we need to invest ourselves in our relationships (with God first, for those Christians out there) with our families and friends. Being relatable and being able to see life from another's point of view and being able to connect with people at a deep, emotional level transcends politics, religon, and major differences we may have with one another. This is the life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness our founding fathers wanted us to enjoy and pass on to our children for generations to come.
