Adventures In Coffeemaking
I walked into work this morning with the intention of making some coffee. I had bought a can for myself to use and I was all set to go. I went to the water cooler and filled the pot up with about five cups of water. I poured the water into our little water pouring pitcher, put the pot on the burner, placed the filter, and transferred the water to the coffeemaker. I waited a few seconds ... nothing came out. I waited five more minutes; still nothing. As it was before nine a.m., I was quite desperately in need of some caffeine, and I was getting a little impatient, so I put about another cup in the pitcher, and poured it into the maker. About a cup of coffee dripped out into the pot. I put about four more cups of water into the maker, and about four cups of coffee were the result. I drank the coffee and went about my business. My question is this: what happened to the original water? It never turned up ... for all I know, it's still in the coffeemaker. Is it hiding? Was it teleported away by some insidious force? Where is my water?
